Alpha — The Creator and King of the Universe in All Power
Omega — Coming Judge and Savior in All Righteousness
And yet more than any other title, John uses the “Lamb” of God.
Why?
Because it is at the cross that Jesus became sin for us and suffered and died in our place for the price of our sin — not His — He is without sin and yet was willing to carry all our judgment and shame and pain to the cross. The Creator took on flesh and humbled Himself. God became a man — Immanuel – God with us. He came not to overpower us or judge us.
He came to die for us as the Lamb led to the slaughter for our sins.
The Cross is what holds everything together because it is at the cross that Jesus demonstrated His perfect and unfailing love for us. He laid down His life as a willing sacrifice on behalf of the whole world, so that those who look to Him in faith and trust in His perfect love could have some way to be restored to Him. Cleansed. Forgiven. Released. and Restored unto God.
Jesus is the only way … He is the Alpha and the Omega.
