As in the Days of Noah — The Seed of the Woman and the Nature of the Son of Man

And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” 35And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

[Luke 1:34-35]

In my last post, I examined the Biblical testimony about a faction of rogue angels — aka the rebel sons of God — who sinned in the days of Noah. These fallen sons abandoned their proper domain, defected from the family of God, and defied the fixed boundaries of God’s created order by taking human wives. The sons of God lusted after “strange flesh” and defiled mankind with forbidden acts of sexual immorality [Jude 1:6-8]. This unnatural union resulted in the procreation of hybrid offspring — the Nephilim — who became the giant kings and ruling class of the antediluvian world. The pagan mythos about the gods cohabiting with human women is far more fact than fiction.

The pre-flood world was accelerating toward a post-human apocalypse that would end in global catastrophe. Only the Hebrew Scriptures and the testimony of the prophets provide the true account of the antediluvian world and the global flood. Jesus reminds us that just as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be before the coming of the Son of Man.

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

[Luke 17:26-27]

What’s been done will be done again. Just as God first judged the ancient world with water, He is coming in the final generation to judge this present world in flaming fire. Once again we are told by Jesus that as evil as it was in Noah’s generation, it will be even worse in at the end of the age.

The final generation — like in Noah’s day — will be profane, ungodly, and corrupt in every conceivable way. The Dragon will lead the whole world into rebellion through moral, spiritual, mental, and genetic corruption. Few men and women will be able to resist the devil’s temptation to transcend as “gods”– becoming more than human. Only a faithful remnant of humanity will resist the Dragon’s attempt to usurp dominion of the earth from mankind.

Those who resist undoubtedly will be hated and hunted down by the Beast. It will be virtually impossible for any human to survive in the context of the coming trans-human/post-human world. If God had not cut the days of Noah short and saved the human race through the flood, “no human being” would have survived. In the same way, unless Jesus returns for the sake of the elect, the human race will once again face utter extinction.

Just like the rebel sons of God installed their own hybrid offspring to take dominion of the thrones of earth before the flood, the ancient Serpent will leverage his own hybrid son in the last days to usurp dominion of the earth. The antichrist will be revealed as the man of sin and son of destruction — bearing the unique genetic signature of the Dragon [the seed of the Serpent]. The mark of the Beast will most likely involve the replication, distribution and mass integration of the devil’s DNA with mankind, corrupting the image of mankind beyond recovery.

It was necessary for God to save mankind through Noah in keeping His word to preserve the seed of the woman — the promised son of Adam who one day would crush the head of the Serpent [Genesis 3:14-16]. The seed of the woman would prevail through Noah, Shem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, and King David — until finally in the fullness of time, God would send forth His unique Son to redeem mankind.

Interestingly, Jesus was supernaturally conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin daughter of Eve –both truly God and truly man — the Son of God — the Son of Man. When looking deeper into the nature of God’s only Son, we discover a more direct correlation to the hybrid offspring of the watchers in the days of Noah.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form.

The Son of Man & The Son of God — The Two Natures of Jesus Christ

JESUS CHRIST: SON OF GOD, SON OF MAN | United Evangelical ...

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;7rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

[Philippians 2:5-8]

I was always fascinated with the theological discussion surrounding the nature of Jesus Christ. Was Jesus human or divine or somehow both? If Jesus is both human and divine, how do both natures converge into one person without contradiction?

Obviously these questions have caused the world’s greatest theologians to ponder the true nature of the Son of God. Many of the early church councils seriously deliberated the nature of Christ. The overwhelming consensus of the church fathers was settled in what became known as the “hypostatic union.”

The Bible presents Jesus with two natures and emphasizes the reality that Jesus never relinquished His divine nature as God but rather acquired human nature through the incarnation. Consider a quote from Theopedia.

Christ’s humanity was not a mere fleshly shell that God rented and used for a temporary amount of time. God did not just come to live in flesh as a man, but the ‘Word became flesh’ (John 1:14). God incorporated human nature into His eternal being. In the incarnation humanity has been permanently incorporated into the Godhead. God is now a man in addition to being God. At the virgin conception God acquired an identity He would retain for the rest of eternity. His human existence is both authentic and permanent. Jesus’ humanity is not something that can be discarded or dissolved back into the Godhead, but He will always and forever exist in heaven as a glorified man, albeit God at the same time.” Upon his ascension, Jesus was not deified, but rather was glorified.

Furthermore, I always struggled with the notion that Jesus both is “fully” human and “fully” God, when in reality Jesus received half of His nature and genetic material from his human mother, Mary, and also received half of His nature and genetic signature from the Spirit of God. If we are to be consistent, therefore, Jesus is the One and Only, unique “hybrid” Son of God and Son of Man. He is the true God Man.

I am perfectly fine with calling Jesus both “truly” human and “truly” God, but the fact that His genetic signature comes from the supernatural union [not sexual] of a divine Father and human mother necessitates a hybrid nature. Jesus is the ultimate and supreme hypostatic hybrid who alone has the right to claim authority and lordship over both realms — heaven and earth.

In other words, as the Son of God, Jesus is the rightful heir to the throne of God and the High King of heaven, and as the Son of Man (Adam), Jesus is the rightful heir to throne of David and Lord over all the earth.

The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

[1 Corinthians 15:47-49]

Not only were the rebel sons of God trying to produce their own “human” offspring to rule the earth in the days of Noah, but also the Serpent inevitably will beget his own human son through his own satanic seed in a final attempt to claim the earth at the end of the age.

The good news is that we know the end of the story. The seed of the woman — Jesus Christ — is destined to crush the seed of the Serpent — the Beast — and put an end once and for all to this ancient rebellion.

That is precisely why Jesus is called the King of kings and Lord of lords and Prince of princes and God of gods. He is supremely more powerful and infinitely superior to all other entities in heaven and on earth, whether thrones or rulers or powers or authorities or dominions or cosmic forces.

The prophetic words of Daniel take on an entirely new perspective when we consider the incomprehensible nature of Jesus Christ — the Son of God, the Son of Man — the Seed of the woman.

I saw in the night visions,

and behold, with the clouds of heaven
there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the Ancient of Days
and was presented before him.
14And to him was given dominion
and glory and a kingdom,
that all peoples, nations, and languages
should serve him;
his dominion is an everlasting dominion
,
which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one
that shall not be destroyed

[Daniel 7:13-14]
