“For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17)

As God’s people, we so often look out the window into a dark and evil world and groan with grief with the state of our godless and lawless culture. We are inundated by all the corruption and perversion and long for the day the Lord Jesus returns to put an end this demonic system once and for all.
But if we aren’t careful, we can become disillusioned with the world, while forgetting to look at the spiritual condition of the church. We must remember that those who love this world will always do what the worldly do, but our responsibility is first to examine our own hearts and ensure that we are right with God in a spirit of purity, humility, and repentance.
The Apostle Peter sends a strong warning to God’s covenant people, reminding us that judgement begins with the household of God. We all must stand before the judgment seat of Christ and will give an account for our own deeds, whether good or bad.
This message is needed now more than ever, as the church is full of hypocrisy, immorality, carnal mindedness, and perversion.
